Food Allergies? Now what?

Food Allergies? Now what?
~
So the 2 year old is severely allergic to everyday foods.

Everything is cross contaminated/ processed in a factory that processes peanuts, eggs, dairy, soy, ect. The Macaroni and Cheese I bought, cereals, oatmeal, I have to change everything! Mac and cheese I switched from walmart generic to Kraft then walmart changed where they processed and then changed again.

Cheese cake from tgi fridays apparently has peanuts in it. So avoiding peanuts is hard but do able. Avoiding Eggs, Wheat and Gluten in foods is almost impossible.

My son displays irritable behavior, itchy eczema skin, red flushed cheeky skin and forehead. He wandered around the house like he is missing something. It was very weird. He has been to the emergency room 3 times and stabbed with the Epi Pen twice, in the last 6 months or so. Before knowing he was allergic to Peanuts, we had been giving him benedryl for any unusual puffiness. We never seen allergic reactions before. My son gradually had worse and worse reactions to things.
One time he had peanut butter he was red and irritated, rashy. The next time it was puffy/ swollen, red, rashy, barfing. The next his lips were swelling up and his eyes puffy he looked like Angelina Jolie. I had just told someone he cannot have peanut butter he is allergic and what do you know, that person gave him peanut butter.

Well benedryl helped...that time.
The next day we went out to TGI fridays, we asked 2 waiters if the cheesecake contained peanuts and they said no. He had a couple bites, was itchy, irritable and red as usual, few minutes later barfing, which was also the same when he eats sometimes. Then he started not breathing correctly.
We were driving around trying to find a walgreens to get some benedryl. Luckily we found the Hospital instead. Went through a few red lights and one ways and made it to the Emergency room. He had to stay overnight, he had to have breathing treatments, high doses of "Benedryl", epi penned, lots of things. He had barfed most of it up. The doctors were worried that he had NOT barfed it all up in which case could result in another anaphylactic shock episode.

The next emergency visit and epi pen administrating, was from the boy grabbing an english muffin his sister was eating with peanut butter on it and tasting it.

I epi penned him, which you should know sucks. It sucks to stab your kid. Also do not pull it out right away it needs to sit in his leg for a few more seconds than what you would want. YES the black tip REALLY is where the needle comes out. No kidding. I had my thumb over the black part as when I took the gray cap off it had a little hole that distracted my attention, as in "oh, a hole, this must be where the needle is coming out of or else there would be no gray cap to take off.)
Another visit. Shorter, just observed him they said whatever I did must have cured him...hence (epi pen)...third visit Haha no peanut butter this time... He was eating Pancakes.... hummm eggs?? He is allergic to egg but can eat cookies with egg in it, however he did react to a cookie from the "great american cookie factory" or something like that. A sugar cookie, I thought maybe it had traces of peanuts.
But now...humm.. possibly eggs/ He got another stab of epi pen this time hubby had to do it (nothing like stabbing your son with an epi pen to take what he eats or what wifey poo says seriously) So then at hospital got 10 doses of hospital benedryl, and observed for 3 hours.

The reaction starts like this. Redness all over (peanuts he starts to swell ) he gets hives on wrists, neck, belly, then after the hives and screaming and rash on legs he starts the violent barfing.

So after this the husband started to get more serious and believing me when I say he has sensitivities to more than just peanuts and eggs as he DOES not want to stab his kid with an epi pen again.

He gets red and itchy from waffles, bread, oatmeal, pasta, dairy, ect.

He definitely cannot have Peanuts or eggs, bananas and gerber rice cereal or oatmeal.

HumMmmMm

I said to myself What NOW? Every fast food place, all the groceries we buy and eat are cross contaminated, or has the ingredient in it. Wheat, eggs, dairy, peanuts and so on.

So how could this be managed? How can a person live like this? How do you even cook for this? Its not very affordable either. My family also has decided to stay away from MSG/ mono sodium Glutamate. That is nearly impossible to stay away from either it is in everything we grew up on for one. Its so unhealthy and fattening and destroys your body slowly and CREATES the FAT CELL!!!!!! Creates it you will never be able to get rid of this cell unless you get the cell removed by lipo. JUST a friendly FYI.

So I decided to put the kid on a Celiac Disease Diet. Not life threatening strict, but to see what will happen...

He is going to the allergy specialist soon...if they even help ( which is a story all in itself.)

I think doctors are a waste of time. Besides them giving my kid 10 doses of benedyl, all they do is harass a parent. A different story another time.

SOOOOoooOoo

Monday I started him on Eco Planet Oatmeal- maple brown sugar- gluten free- dairy free~

I think it is also egg free....??

He actually eats it, it looks weird to me, but I am new to this gluten free world.

They have 3 flavors, and i would totally get the plain flavor and add baby food sweet potatoes or green beans to it so he gets ....whatever he gets from the added veggies.

But the oatmeal is SUPER healthy just a bunch of different grains such as
millet, and amaranth, quinoa?, brown rice and buckwheat and a few others. Its certified Gluten free. The gluten free world labels this GF for gluten free...FYI..
